Four Properties of Stainless Steel Nuts

Stainless steel Nuts use stainless steel as raw materials. Stainless steel Nuts has four properties.

1. High temperature resistance. For high hardness, the Nuts has strong oxidation resistance. It cannot work under high temperature and cannot be interfered by high temperature. If the Nuts is passivated after being made out, the temperature resistance will be better.

2. Physical properties. Stainless steel Nuts has higher specific resistance. The specific resistance of stainless steel is higher than that of carbon steel by five times. Standard parts have an expansion factor. Through experiment, if the temperature is higher, the expansion factor of stainless steel Nuts will be improved definitely. 

3. Stress capacity. Stainless steel Nuts can endure moderate stress. Although it cannot be compared favorably with high strength bolt, the Nuts can still meet the common requirements.

4. Mechanical properties. High rust resistance and corrosion resistance have close relationship with the features of stainless steel. For standard parts developing constantly, mechanical properties of stainless steel Nuts will be enhanced further.

Stainless steel is an alloy of low carbon steel and chromium for enhanced corrosion characteristics. Stainless steel is highly corrosion resistant for the price and because the anti-corrosive properties are inherent to the metal, it will not lose this resistance if scratched during installation or use.

It is a common misconception that stainless steel is stronger than regular steel. In fact, due to the low carbon content, stainless steel cannot be hardened. Therefore when compared with regular steel it is slightly stronger than an un-hardened (grade 2) steel fastener but significantly weaker than hardened steel Nuts.

Stainless steel is also much less magnetic than regular steel Nuts though some grades will be slightly magnetic.

18-8 Stainless
18-8 refers to any stainless steel containing approximately 18% chromium and 8% nickel. This is the most common stainless designation for hardware.
